Tourism is Gold - The Path to Ghana

In March 2025 I completed a seven-year journey to write a comprehensive book for those seeking to expand tourism revenue in their community or country.

Because my doctoral research was focused on the Ghanaian tourism industry, it became a helpful lens through which to look at how to develop a comprehensive hospitality and tourism sector.

Over several years I wrote various essays based on different tourism encounters, especially while visiting Ghana. In 2021 with a new role in higher education and the chance to start new routines, I developed a plan to write TIG.

From 2023 to 2025 I was writing 4-5 hours on average per day, with occasional writing retreats on campus at St. John Fisher University and abroad in Ghana. This was the path to over 172,000 words.

The result is a book that can serve as a training manual for practitioners, but also as an academic textbook. Any tourism course can use a mix of the 21 chapters to instill foundational concepts through case studies, illustrations and learning activities.
